Sengigi

We took the slow ferry from a little town on the east side of Bali called, Pandangbai, and headed east to the neighboring island Lombok. When they say "slow ferry," they truly mean slow ferry. We arrived to the ferry port and were rushed onto the ferry that was leaving right then, then sat for a good hour and waited for the ferry to actually depart. After we departed, we slowly made our way to Lombok and arrived five hours later.

This is the ladies bathroom.
The little drain on the left side is apparently where you are expected to pee into. The thing on the right is where you wash your hands... there was no water:

We arrived in Lembar, Lombok at 8pm that night and shared a cab with a money savvy tourist ended up paying $40,000rp/ $4.50usd each instead of the asked rate of $400,000rp to get to the little beach town of Sengigi.

We checked into Elen Homestay, which was lovely and only $110,000 rp/ $10usd  (breakfast, wifi, private ensuite all included).

The next day we ventured around the town and moseyed to Sengigi's beach,
which Lonely Planet claims "is hard to beat," but we found the town better for its food and almost skipped out on the beach completely. The beach was beautiful, but the sands were more volcanic than the white sands we had anticipated and many areas of the beach were full of boats and shallow reefs. However, it was refreshing to see waves and a darker sand beach as a result of the volcanic activity in Indonesia, also with less tourists present than ever before on our trip.

Aidan 1 hour after our beach walk:

Afterwards we went to a very cheap and authentic restaurant called Warung Ijo, recommended to us by a Scottish woman who lives on Gili Trawangan and frequently comes to Sengigi for business reasons. We ordered Nasi Goreng (fried rice), Gado Gado (cooked veggies with peanut sauce and white rice), and Mie Goreng ( fried noodles).

The next day we left Sengigi and headed to the Gili Islands- Gili Trawangan. We took a minivan to a port near Sengigi then all literally crammed into a long tail boat and took a 30 minute boat ride to Gili T ($60,000rp/ $6usd)...produce, locals, surfboards, tourists, backpacks, you name it.
