Ko Lanta- Long Beach

An hour away from the busy and amazing Ko Phi Phi is "Krabi's sexy beach babe," Ko Lanta; a HUGE island with tons of beaches on one side of the land mass and mangroves on the other side.

We decided to start at Long Beach since a tourist told us that it was nice and had lots of accommodation. We didn't exactly get to the real Long Beach, but rather ended up at the very end of it (bordering the next beach) and booked a nice bungalow 150 meters from the beach at Thai House Beach Resort. It was prefect however and had the laid back, peaceful environment that we craved.

Our little bungalow:

We didn't do much exploring In Long Beach except lounge on the literal long beach and rent a motorbike to cruise to  to Lanta's old town village. The old town used to be a major commercial port, but is now just a little town with a pier, lighthouse, playground, small shops and restaurants all on stilts over the bay.

Our hotel's restaurant was rather pricy and simple with its selection of foods, but we frequented numerous times during the two days we were there since it was right on the beach.

We also became heavily addicted to a "western" menu item- the infamous Lanta Club Sandwich (white bread, cheese, ham, fried egg, tomato, cucumber, lettuce- triple decker style). We ordered the sandwich so many times that the waiter asked us if we wanted that item every time we sat down to eat.

Me eating the Lanta Club Sando:

And the one time we left the hotel to eat elsewhere, we waited for two hours to get a piece of chicken and potato... But since we are in Thailand and the term "Thai time" actually exists, we never got the meal. However, I did order a glass of wine for the first time this whole trip! Later we ended up ordering the Lanta Club from our hotel.

After two nights at Long Beach we moved on to Klong Khong.
