Banglamphu area- Bangkok

January 13th was apparently the day when Bangkok would shut down for an entire day - the protesters would move from the Banglamphu area to a more centeral area in Bangkok. We weren't quite sure if it was going to be safe for us to stay in Bangkok, as many Thais insisted that it was very dangerous and we move on. Oh well, we embraced the adventure.

First we visited the Grand Palace which was stunning but swarmed with tourists. Next we took a long tail boat to Wat Arun for only 3 baht(less than a cent). We crossed back over the river to Wat Pho (the largest reclining Buddah in Thailand). Each of the sites was phenomenal, extraordinary, intricate, and beautiful to say the least.

Grand Palace and army security:

(Katie's outfit that day was not appropriate for ANY of the temples... So she had to borrow conservative cover ups)

Wat Arun:

Afterwards we took our first Tuk Tuk back to the hotel; it was a wild ride, extremely dangerous and so much fun!

Then we lounged by our oh so refreshing rooftop pool. After we ate some amazing thai veggie soup, noodles and green curry dishes at an authentic street side 'pop-up restaurant.' Then booked our bus tickets from a tour agency to depart for Northern Thailand- Chaig Mai at 7pm the next day. An 11 hour bus ride adventure......
